A governmental customer, required a solution to offer a unique and an educational experience to its visitors as related to its rich Geological sites as well as historical sites in its downtown core. This educational experience was to be provided in the form of a mobile application containing rich media such as audio, videos, maps, photos and text. The client also provided GIS way points, audio files and language files to cover French and English as the official languages.
The Solution
To offer the unique experience required by our client, we customized our Tours/Walks app platform. The app included predetermined walks with textual description of sites and voiceover, video links in French and English. It was developed on a mapping platform that showed the various stops along the walking tour. Offline maps were built in so that it could function without an internet access. As the user would get close to a way point or POI, the application would detect the next stop and show the relevant information based on the location of the user.
